My interest in sewing began with making doll clothes at a young age. At Skidmore College, I studied costume design and construction, and after graduating I worked for an independent designer making custom couture clothing, ready-to-wear collections, dance costumes, and clothing alterations.
While completing my A.A.S. in Fashion Merchandising at FIT, I started a doll fashion blog called Clarisse's Closet, where I shared daily outfits and fashion inspiration on my 18" American Girl doll. This grew into an Etsy shop of seasonal clothing collections for 18" dolls, many of which sold out within hours or minutes. I also published sewing and knitting patterns under the Clarisse's Closet brand name.
My doll clothing pursuit has pivoted to my newer business, Piccolo Stitchworks.
I also regularly make clothing and costumes for myself, and take on other projects as opportunities arise.
